The re-construction occurred one to two stories higher than the original level, thus leaving an underground of history to be re-discovered. Enter Bill Speidel whom started “The Underground Tour” in 1965 and it has since thrived and become one of Seattle’s most popular tourist draws that offers guided tours of the ruins below. There also exists an adult version tour that incorporates the more seedy aspects of business in the olden days, not intended for children.
