St. Augustine is the oldest continuously occupied town in the United States; it is older than even the Jamestown settlement in Virginia. Situated on Florida's First Coast which runs from Amelia Island south to Palm Coast. St. Augustine is a quintessential Florida town. Much of what people frequently associate with Florida is here: sandy beaches, palm trees, antebellum architecture, and even an alligator farm. About the only things missing are Cape Canaveral and Disney World, and both those are within an easy drive from St. Augustine.
If you are going to visit Florida, St. Augustine's blend of southern charm, historic attractions, excellent restaurants, and comfortable lodging make it a "must see." Of course, there is the beach, too.
