In 1891, Silas Griffith built this estate as a wedding gift for his new bride, Katherine Tiel. Silas was Vermont's first millionaire and "Lumber Baron". His selection of a site was outstanding; the buildings are nestled on 11 acres of rolling meadows offering a 360-degree view of the Taconic and Green Mountains. Details such as hand-carved cherry woodwork, birch floors, embossed tin ceilings, carved birdseye maple mantles, stained glass windows, and original beams offer a taste of the Victorian era of living... the charm and character of history enhanced by the conveniences of today.
